Fire rated downlights new from Firesafe

Firesafe has just launched a range of fire rated downlights, allowing straightforward compliance with building regulations.

Legislation states that when cutting into a ceiling to install a downlight, the fitting has to be made fire-resistant by installing additional protection to it. These alterations then become the responsibility of the installer.

Because Firesafe's new downlights are already fire-resistant, an installer can comply in one easy step with no need for alterations.

The new range has been fully tested by the Building Research Establishment and has an intumescent seal offering 90 minutes protection against fire. The downlights are fully certified and comply with BS476 Part 20, 21 and 23.

There are three model types in the range; a 12V downlight, a 12V directional downlight and a 12V enclosed shower downlight, all made with a pressed steel body and die cast bezel.

They are also available in a range of finishes including white, brass, chrome, brushed chrome and brass, with either 12V MR16 GU5.3 or GU10 cap lamp types.
